Private jet gets stuck in mud at Teterboro
A private jet rolled off a runway after landing Friday afternoon, but officials said no one was injured.
The luxurious Falcon 900 is owned by Motorola Inc. of Schaumburg, Ill., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
It had a single, unidentified passenger and two crew members, Port Authority spokesman Marc LaVorgna said.
After landing safely at 2:30 p.m., the jet rolled past the end of the runway and into a muddy area, he said.
"Basically, the plane is stuck in the mud," LaVorgna said.
The airport remained open as crews removed the plane late Friday afternoon, he said.
Rep. Steve Rothman, D-Fair Lawn, blaming the accident on the traffic level at Teterboro, one of the busiest airports in the country, called for a reduction in that traffic.
"The time has come for the FAA to allow the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to make the changes the PA wants to make to reduce the number of flights at Teterboro," Rothman said in a press release. |
